Classical astrology assigns Aquarius’s rulership to Saturn, tying it to structure and boundary-testing discipline. After Uranus’s discovery in 1781, the first planet found that wasn’t visible to the naked eye and known to ancient astrologers, modern astrologers reassigned Aquarius a second ruler that fit its reputation for unconventional thinking. Neither Saturn nor Uranus has a physical connection to the constellation Aquarius; both rulerships are symbolic astrology conventions from two different eras, not orbital facts.
